We are looking for a highly motivated Strategic Financial Controller who is passionate about translating financial data into actionable insights and driving profitability management initiatives for Julius Baer’s private banking business in Western Markets & Switzerland.
You will join a dynamic and experienced team of finance experts who serve as strategic advisors to regional senior management, supporting them in achieving their objectives and identifying trends in financial performance at an early stage.
In this challenging and exciting role, you will be part of the Regional CFO Western Markets & Switzerland team and report to the Head of Regional Financial Planning, Reporting & Analytics.
Tasks
- Take an active role in management reporting and controlling for performance management, including enhancing existing reporting tools and designing new products, thereby supporting the future development of revenue and cost management frameworks for the region
- Conduct quantitative analyses and business case assessments on a regular basis and prepare presentations for senior management
- Support the development and maintenance of complex quantitative models that help translate financial data into actionable insights
- Serve as a sparring partner to the Front Office on finance-related topics, with direct interaction with senior management and key stakeholders across the bank
- Support the region’s financial planning and performance management processes (including budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis)
- Support strategic finance topics and initiatives that enable the region to achieve its financial objectives
- Develop tools focused on further automation and more flexible and timely use of data
Profile / Your qualification / Your personality
- Strong academic record in a quantitative field: University degree in Finance, Accounting, Econometrics, or a comparable field of study with above-average grades
- At least 4–5 years of experience in a comparable finance or related role within the banking or financial industry, or a background as an analyst or controller in other industries
- Strong interest in private banking and global financial markets; experience in a similar environment is advantageous
- Outstanding analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills with a strong affinity for quantitative modeling
- Excellent Excel and data handling skills. Programming skills (e.g., VBA/Python/SQL/R) as well as knowledge of data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau/Power BI) is a significant advantage
- Advanced PowerPoint skills and an affinity for automating presentation content in connection with data updates
- Strong personal drive with good organizational and multitasking skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple senior stakeholders
- Independent, proactive, efficient, and meticulous work style with a results-oriented mindset
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); German is a plus
