The Foreign Exchange and Gold Trading Team within the Money Market and Foreign Exchange Trading division is responsible for the SNB’s operations in the foreign exchange market. It conducts FX transactions to implement monetary policy, manage foreign exchange reserves, and provide banking services to the federal government. It also manages cash holdings in foreign currencies and carries out transactions related to international monetary cooperation.
Tasks
- Implementation of monetary policy through foreign exchange market interventions and swap agreements with other central banks;
- Foreign exchange and gold trading (spot and derivatives) as part of the management of foreign exchange reserves and analysis of completed transactions to optimize trading activities;
- Supporting the team lead in the technical management of the team;
- Leading strategically relevant projects as part of the renewal and further development of the SNB’s foreign exchange market operations;
- Analyzing and reporting on global financial market developments with a focus on the structure and regulation of the foreign exchange market.
Profile / Your qualification / Your personality
- Master’s degree in economics, finance, or a related field;
- At least five years of relevant professional experience, preferably in foreign exchange, gold, or securities trading;
- In-depth knowledge of international financial markets and a strong interest in monetary and currency policy;
- Extensive experience in project work and the ability to successfully structure and manage complex, cross-functional projects;
- Strong analytical skills, quick comprehension, a high level of motivation, and a precise and meticulous work style;
- Very good command of German or French as well as English;
- Residence in the vicinity of Zurich due to scheduled evening and on-call shifts.
