The Securities & Derivatives Analyst is a junior-level position responsible for ensuring the quality of data across key domains, including Securities, Parties, Ratings, Benchmarks, Analytics, and Pricing. Based in our Budapest office, this role is critical for supporting downstream trading, operations, and portfolio management systems. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining data integrity, learning and improving data management processes, and contributing to the overall efficiency and accuracy of Data Operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop a deep understanding of financial data, gain exposure to multiple systems, and build a career within a global financial services leader.
Tasks
The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Data Quality & Process Management:
- Ensure the quality of data across various domains (Security, Portfolio, Counterparty, Ratings, Benchmark, Analytics, Pricing) and within relevant systems.
- Perform assigned daily and monthly processes, escalating issues or identifying solutions to remove obstacles for the team.
- Learn all job functions within data management, understand how data impacts downstream processes, and contribute to implementing new processes or enhancing existing ones.
- Resolve reconciliation discrepancies as assigned by the Reconciliation team, covering both external (counterparty) and internal (system-to-system) reconciliations.
- Problem Resolution & Analysis:
- Resolve problems by utilizing available data analysis tools and methodologies, and provide recommendations to leadership for process improvements.
- Monitor for errors to minimize risk, understand procedural requirements, and apply sound judgment in decision-making.
- Stakeholder & Client Support:
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external clients, provide excellent customer service, and support critical daily and monthly processes.
- Ensure that all issues or potential issues that could negatively impact the department are escalated appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Risk, Control & Governance:
- Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, giving particular consideration to the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and its assets.
- Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to policy and applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices.
- Escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency.
Profile / Your qualification / Your personality
- 0–2 years of relevant experience in financial services, data operations, or a related field.
- A foundational understanding of financial data domains such as Securities, Portfolios, Counterparties, Ratings, Benchmarks, Analytics, and Pricing is advantageous.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and projects in a high-risk, fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve issues effectively.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills for interacting with internal and external clients.
- A proactive and results-oriented mindset, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
