The Risk division is responsible for credit, market, and operational risk; model risk; independent liquidity risk; and insurance across the firm. Corporate Credit Risk manages a portfolio of corporate lending and derivatives trading clients and ensures best-in-class execution of transactions and ongoing portfolio management.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can perform credit risk analysis on corporate transactions, based on a thorough understanding of credit fundamentals, leveraged capital structures, and the risks associated with lending and derivatives products. From a credit risk perspective, you will be responsible for a portfolio of EMEA corporate clients, and you will be expected to manage it based on a deep understanding of credit fundamentals, market trends, the impact of changing regulatory requirements, and the risks associated with lending and derivatives transactions.

Credit Risk works closely with the CRO and senior management to manage Goldman Sachs’ credit risk. Credit professionals protect the firm’s capital by using in-depth knowledge of our clients, markets, and trading products to determine the firm’s acceptable level of risk appetite. With a staff of 300 professionals, Credit Risk operates through 11 different offices around the world. Credit Risk offers a unique opportunity to develop a wide range of professional skills and expertise in risk management while working on financial transactions.

Tasks

  • Assist in assessing the credit and financial strength of the firm’s corporate borrowers and counterparties by performing fundamental credit analysis using both quantitative and qualitative factors.
  • Support the review of lending and underwriting transactions (such as LBOs, M&A, and relationship lending), contributing to the determination of risk appetite and regulatory ratings, by analyzing cash flow projections and key documentation safeguards.
  • Contribute to regular sector analysis to help assess portfolio concentrations or trends.
  • Collaborate with the Investment Banking/Financing group, Sales & Trading, Legal, Operations, and Compliance departments to support the approval of derivatives transactions and ensure appropriate documentation, limits, and risk mitigants to protect against counterparty default and minimize potential losses.
  • Analyze the risks inherent in the products transacted by the firm, including lending, trading, and derivative products.
  • Support the management of relationships with other areas of the firm, including Investment Banking, Asset Management, Global Markets, Controllers, Treasury, Legal, Compliance, and Technology.

  • Familiarity with regulatory rating requirements and the application of such guidance.
  • Strong documentation (loans and/or derivatives), analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse deal team, taking guidance from and supporting senior team members.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely within the firm, with the confidence to present transaction analyses and credit recommendations to senior management.
