Blackstone Europe Fund Management S.à r.l. (BEFM) is a private limited liability company (société à responsabilité limitée) governed primarily by the Law of August 10, 1915, on commercial companies, as amended from time to time, and by the AIFM Law. BEFM is authorized by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) as (i) a management company under Article 101(2) (Chapter 15) of the Law of December 17, 2010, on undertakings for collective investment, as amended (the UCI Law), and (ii) an alternative investment fund manager in accordance with the Law of July 12, 2013, on alternative investment fund managers, as amended (the AIFM Law).
BEFM manages UCITS and alternative investment funds (AIFs) across a variety of asset classes, including private equity, real estate, credit, and hedge fund solutions. BEFM is also authorized to manage separately managed accounts (SMAs) that combine these asset classes.
Tasks
The Firm is looking to recruit an Associate to join the Risk Management team responsible for a number of our European funds. The Associate will be an integral member of the team in Luxembourg and will report to the head of Risk Management. The Associate will be involved in all aspects of the Risk Management team, with a focus on credit and private equity/infrastructure strategies, and key responsibilities will include:
Risk management and investment fund compliance:
- Drafting and updating risk profiles on a regular basis
- Identifying, assessing, and monitoring risks associated with BEFM-managed funds
- Implementing risk mitigation strategies and corrective actions
- Monitoring compliance with investment restrictions and guidelines
- Conducting deal risk reviews prior to transactions and assessing alignment with the fund’s investment strategy and risk profile
- Preparing and providing risk data for regulatory reporting purposes (e.g., AIFMD Annex IV risk inputs)
Governance and reporting to senior management:
- Updating and reviewing policies, procedures, and risk profiles in accordance with the latest regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Preparing materials and reports for relevant senior stakeholders on a recurring basis
Innovation and transformation:
- Overseeing risk processes that may be partially supported by internal and/or external teams
- Proposing improvements to existing risk management processes
Profile / Your qualification / Your personality
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team, are highly motivated, possess sound judgment, and have demonstrated excellence in their previous endeavors.
- Master’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, financial engineering, or a related field
- 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry, such as at a UCITS management company, AIFM, or in a risk advisory role. Prior experience at a Big 4 firm is an asset. Strong understanding of risk management techniques and methods, including Value-at-Risk, stress testing, liquidity modeling, and counterparty risk. Familiarity with regulatory requirements for AIFs is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical and financial skills with a strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. A strong desire to adopt new technologies and a commitment to driving automation initiatives to streamline processes and improve productivity. Knowledge of IT languages such as VBA and SQL, and experience with tools such as Anaplan, Tableau, or PowerBI is a plus
- Confident in building relationships and working collaboratively on cross-functional and cross-geographic projects
- Able to work and solve problems independently, organize your workload, and prioritize and complete tasks on time
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and handle a wide range of assignments
