Company Overview
Blackstone Europe Fund Management S.à r.l. (BEFM) is a private limited liability company (société à responsabilité limitée) governed by the Law of August 10, 1915, on commercial companies, as amended from time to time, and by the AIFM Law. BEFM is authorized by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) as (i) a management company under Article 101(2) (Chapter 15) of the Law of December 17, 2010, on undertakings for collective investment, as amended (the UCI Law), and (ii) an alternative investment fund manager in accordance with the Law of July 12, 2013, on alternative investment fund managers, as amended (the AIFM Law).
BEFM manages UCITS and alternative investment funds (AIFs) across a variety of asset classes, including private equity, real estate, credit, and hedge fund solutions. BEFM is also authorized to manage separately managed accounts (SMAs) that combine these asset classes.
Tasks
Seeking an Associate for the BEFM Fund Finance Oversight (FFO) team, which recently expanded its scope of activities. The FFO team is responsible for ensuring that the financial reporting requirements of the AIFs, UCITS, and SMAs (the “Funds”) are met, including all corporate, statutory, regulatory, and tax reporting matters.
In addition, the FFO team is responsible for reviewing the NAV of the funds under BEFM management and overseeing delegates or other finance service providers/counterparties. The role will be a key part of the Luxembourg Finance team, working closely with other Finance teams globally; the candidate will be responsible for the following areas:
Oversight of fund administration
- Supporting the onboarding of fund administrators in the event of a new fund launch and participating in the onboarding process regarding NAV-related matters
- Conducting periodic due diligence on fund administrators
- Supporting the oversight of fund administrators, which includes reviewing and challenging key performance indicators, as well as coordinating within the Group in the event of operational issues or new regulatory requirements that need to be implemented
- Assigning and reviewing tasks delegated to offshore consultants
Financial reporting and NAV review
- During fund onboarding, assessing controls related to NAV calculation and investor reporting
- Reviewing the NAV of BEFM funds
- Documenting the results of the analysis at NAV frequency
- Updating the database with key financial indicators for each fund
- Regulatory and tax reporting
- Assigning and reviewing tasks assigned to offshore consultants
- Other general administrative tasks
Governance and reporting to senior management
- Preparing management information for senior management and governing bodies
- Proposing improvements to NAV processes, enhancing procedures and processes, and optimizing the use of offshore resources and technology
Profile / Your qualification / Your personality
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team, are highly motivated, exercise sound judgment, and have demonstrated excellence in their previous endeavors.
- Master’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry (including prior experience at a Big 4 firm or similar) with a good understanding of alternative industry operations
- Strong technical accounting skills; experience in due diligence related to fund administrators or AIFMs is a plus
- Knowledge of local regulatory requirements related to AIFMs and Luxembourg vehicles
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint is required. A strong desire to use technology and to develop skills on new IT platforms
- Analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and attention to detail
- Highly organized, with a strong sense of accountability for delivering results
- Collaborative team player with a proactive mindset and the ability to suggest new, efficient solutions
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
