The Global Banking & Markets Division (Equity Derivatives & Structuring Operations) is responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate transaction processing across a broad range of products. Generally, the products supported are complex instruments that require close alignment with the business. A key focus for the organization is establishing robust risk management procedures and controls to ensure that the firm and our clients are adequately protected. The Global Banking & Markets Division is at the forefront of shaping and driving change in the industry, with the ultimate goal of delivering greater accuracy, control, and efficiency for our clients and our businesses.
The Exotic Trade Review team is a cross-product, high-value risk management team within Operations that mitigates the risks associated with trade booking and legal documentation of structured derivative transactions through independent and thorough review. Exotic Trade Review covers a wide range of EQD businesses and products and works closely with trading to improve trade booking accuracy and ensure that appropriate tradeables are used to validate that all significant terms are captured in the booking. Our clients trade a variety of products, such as OTC and listed options, securitized issuances, structured derivatives, synthetics, and cash equities. It is our responsibility to ensure that positions are accurately booked and maintained in our risk systems throughout the product’s lifecycle. Team members will also work closely with technology and strategists to streamline workflows for greater efficiency and implement more robust controls. There is a strong emphasis on knowledge and expertise, which requires all team members to be fully versed in the products and systems used and to understand how their day-to-day tasks impact the firm’s bottom line.
Tasks
- Prepare to gain a comprehensive understanding of the lifecycle of a trade by interacting with traders, strategists, sales, and structurers, as well as middle office, legal, product control, and documentation teams, in order to work toward the shared goal of risk mitigation
- Partner with a team of product experts to review all economic aspects of derivative trades while gaining strong knowledge of exotic derivatives and financial risk awareness
- Demonstrate your attention to detail by ensuring that all trade economics, payoff profiles, and pricing factors are accurately recorded in the risk management system
- Use your inquisitive mindset to identify control weaknesses related to booking methodology as well as discrepancies in the legal documentation
- Leverage your quantitative skills to break down the payoffs of complex structured transactions and propose creative, robust booking solutions
- Work in a collaborative team environment to develop a deeper understanding of complex transactions and collaborate with our business partners to automate and improve our existing processes
- Take ownership and liaise with other teams within GS to ensure timely resolution of queries, following through on operational issues until resolution by coordinating with various stakeholders across multiple locations
- Monitor and control operational risk throughout the trade processing lifecycle
- Become a subject matter expert to mitigate risk and drive efficiencies

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Proven analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and a detail-oriented mindset
- A knack for building relationships and the ability to communicate complex issues to a wide range of internal clients with varying levels of product experience
- A self-motivated and proactive team player who takes ownership and accountability for projects, possesses strong organizational and communication skills, and has the ability to effectively manage competing priorities
- Flexible and able to work well under pressure in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Quantitative educational background
- Experience in an equity derivatives, commodities, or foreign exchange documentation team or product area, including structured transactions
- Ability to remain composed under pressure
- Takes steps to ensure that controls are in place and procedures are followed
- The candidate must have strong communication skills, be proactive, enthusiastic, and a team player
