As a firm focused on asset management, we operate exclusively in the areas of wealth management, asset management, and asset services. We do not engage in investment banking or grant business loans. Pictet is a partnership-managed firm with seven managing partners. Our principles regarding ownership structure and ownership transfer have remained unchanged since Pictet’s founding in 1805. With assets under management and in custody totaling over CHF 609 billion as of December 31, 2021, across its private client and institutional businesses, the Pictet Group is today one of Europe’s leading independent asset managers.

Headquartered in Geneva, the Group currently employs over 4,881 people and maintains a global presence with a total of 30 offices: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Basel, Brussels, Dubai, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hong Kong, Lausanne, London, Luxembourg, Madrid, Milan, Montreal, Munich, Nassau, Osaka, Paris, Rome, Singapore, Stuttgart, Taipei, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Turin, Verona, Shanghai, New York, and Zurich.

Tasks

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative due diligence on global equity and fixed-income funds, with additional coverage of liquid alternative strategies (equity long/short, global macro, multi-strategy, market neutral, relative value).
  • Maintain and update fund ratings, ensuring alignment with fund research governance.
  • Prepare manager meeting notes, due diligence reports, and recommendations for Approved/Focus List reviews and Discretionary PMs.
  • Monitor fund performance, risk characteristics, and portfolio positioning against stated mandates and peer groups.
  • Support the Funds Advisory function and Discretionary Mandates by translating research insights into actionable guidance for the front office.
  • Contribute to thematic research reports and quarterly manager survey presentations, as well as ad hoc requests.
  • Liaise directly with fund management companies (portfolio managers, product specialists) regarding strategy updates, liquidity terms, and operational due diligence issues.
  • Support regulatory and cross-border fund considerations (UCITS, AIFMD) relevant to fund selection and distribution.
  • Act as a substitute for pod colleagues as needed and contribute to cross-pod knowledge sharing.

Profile / Your qualification / Your personality

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field; CFA (or working toward it) and CAIA are a plus given the focus on liquid alternatives.
  • At least ten years of experience in fund research, manager selection, or as a fund analyst at a private bank, asset manager, fund-of-funds firm, or investment consultancy.
  • Demonstrated experience covering liquid alternatives strategies (hedge fund-style, UCITS-wrapped, or offshore) alongside traditional long-only equity and/or fixed-income funds.
  • Solid understanding of the fund management industry—including asset manager structures, fee models, distribution channels, and operational due diligence considerations.
  • Familiarity with fund governance frameworks (rating systems, approved lists, investment committees) is a strong plus.
  • Fluent in English; French is a strong asset given the client and internal stakeholder base.
  • Strong quantitative due diligence skills: performance attribution, risk decomposition, and factor analysis.
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks (UCITS, AIFMD; knowledge of Swiss LPCC/LSFin is a plus).
  • Proficient with fund research tools and databases (e.g., Morningstar Direct, FactSet, Bloomberg).
  • Advanced Excel skills; proficiency in PowerPoint for client- and committee-facing materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex fund analysis into clear recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable engaging directly with fund managers and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset, able to work within a pod structure and contribute beyond the confines of a single asset class.
  • Must be a resident of Switzerland with a valid work permit.
