The Corporate Banking Associate is an intermediate-level professional within Citi’s Corporate Bank, responsible for providing relationship management, capital structure expertise, and corporate finance advice to clients.

The successful candidate will join a team with an unrivaled position in the Irish banking market. Citi has held a 20% market share of all episodic financing and advisory transactions since 2020 and was recently named Euromoney’s Best Investment Bank in Ireland for the seventh consecutive year.

The overall objective of this role is to drive revenue by cross-selling the Citi platform while efficiently deploying the firm’s capital and evaluating and managing risk.

Tasks

  • Support senior bankers in generating business opportunities with existing clients in the corporate, financial institutions, and public sector industries, working closely with colleagues from Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Treasury & Trade Solutions, and Markets
  • Support bankers in cross-selling the full spectrum of products and services by identifying customer needs to generate revenue
  • Produce high-quality client-facing analytical material on topics including corporate finance, capital structure, and optimal financing strategy
  • Responsible for evaluating public filings, research reports, operations, business plans, and financial forecasts to produce strategic and financial analyses
  • Be responsible for staying abreast of market and industry trends, “best practices,” and the competitive landscape
  • Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets by ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; adhering to policies; applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices; and transparently escalating, managing, and reporting control issues.
  • Assist with day-to-day cash management activities, trading initiatives, vendor finance, foreign exchange, loan activity, debt capital markets efforts, share repurchases, and interest rate and equity derivatives

Profile / Your qualification / Your personality

  • Strong corporate finance skills with an understanding of the drivers of capital structure
  • Financial modeling, analysis, and credit skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a proven ability to multitask
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience working in a corporate bank, investment banking, corporate finance, or a capital markets role is preferred
  • MBA or Master’s degree in business preferred
  • Strong credit skills, credit background, and knowledge of Citi’s credit policies,
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Ideally, 2–6 years of relevant experience in corporate banking, investment banking, credit, leveraged finance, or commercial banking
