The Team
The Auto, Aerospace & Defense (A&D), Capital Goods, and Investment Holdings team consists of approximately 20 analysts located across key European cities, including London, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, Madrid, and Stockholm. As a vital part of this dynamic group, you will manage a portfolio of about 15 issuers primarily from the capital goods, aerospace & defense, and automotive sectors, focusing on companies based in Germany.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in shaping the credit ratings landscape by conducting thorough and insightful corporate credit analyses. Your work will directly influence rating decisions and contribute to market transparency, enabling investors and other stakeholders to make well-informed decisions.

Tasks

  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • A S&P employee at this level typically has a minimum of 5 years of corporate credit analysis experience, preferably with speculative-grade corporates.
  • Fluency in spoken and written German is essential, along with strong communication skills in English (both spoken and written). Knowledge of additional European languages is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in engaging with senior management.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a profound understanding of financial statement analysis, cash flow modelling, and accounting concepts.
  • Understanding of and experience with legal transaction and debt documentations.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Effective teamwork and a strategic approach to problem-solving are highly valued.
  • Knowledge of the Automotive, Capital Goods, and/or A&D sectors is desirable.
  • A willingness to travel within Europe for meetings, sometimes at short notice.
  • Proficiency in AI tools, including experience in using generative AI to streamline tasks, extract information, and support research writing, would be an advantage.
