The Assistant Relationship Manager (ARM) Private Banking supports one or more Relationship Managers (RM) or Team Heads (TH) in daily operations, administration, client care, and relationship management. The ARM interacts with both internal and external stakeholders, provides clients with relevant information, and supports the RM in implementing customized solutions. Furthermore, the ARM serves as a role model by delivering the highest quality of service to the RMs/TH in a fast, professional, and friendly manner, consistently embodying the Julius Baer values (Care, Passion, and Excellence), and thereby helping the team manage and grow its current client base. He/she channels client feedback to the relevant individuals/departments within the Bank to foster continuous improvement and rapid adaptation of processes. This position is the backbone of Client Relationship Management.

Tasks

Client Administration & Management

  • Supports RMs/TH in client interactions and all related tasks (systems, processes, files, documents, etc.) with high quality, precision, and timely responsiveness
  • Customizes client requests (reports, statistics, mailings, etc.)
  • Manages the RM/TH’s calendar, prepares client meetings, organizes business trips, and handles the follow-up work related to client calls, client meetings, or business trips for RMs/TH
  • Compiles presentations, assists in drafting investment proposals, and supports marketing activities as needed (client receptions, meetings, business trips, events, etc.)
  • Ensures coverage in the event of their own absence

Business Management

  • Regularly collects and shares relevant information necessary for the job
  • Organizes work in an efficient and compliant manner and ensures timely and appropriate reporting to the supervisor
  • Conducts reviews, plans ahead, and documents his/her work at all times
  • Supports RM/TH in the implementation of projects and initiatives
  • Provides professional input and suggestions for improvements based on experience, incidents, or observations
  • Manages the expense claim process for RMs/TH

Risk Management & Controls

  • Actively assists in managing risk (supporting the first line of defense), e.g., in client documentation, by raising concerns, following up on issues, and escalating matters when in doubt
  • Ensures adherence to local regulations and compliance with internal policies and standards (e.g., new account openings, payment instructions, reviewing client phone calls, or approving matters within one’s own level of authority, etc.) in collaboration with the respective RMs and TH
  • Ensures the timely resolution of pending items and escalated deficiencies
  • Ensures appropriate ethical and compliant behavior in his/her area of responsibility
  • Ensures correct, meaningful, and understandable documentation of client interactions and client orders in the corresponding tool (e.g., CRM, DiAS)

Education and Experience

  • Relevant educational background (banking apprenticeship or equivalent) and professional experience (work experience in the financial industry)
  • Strong language skills (verbal and written) in accordance with specific market requirements
  • Proven track record in serving banking clients with complex needs (onboarding new clients, maintaining and expanding existing relationships)
