As Head of Credit & Treasury, you will personally own and run the credit and treasury function of Bank Vontobel Europe AG – a subsidiary of Vontobel, a globally active Swiss investment house serving high-net-worth clients. Reporting to the COO Europe, with a functional dotted line into Group Treasury and Group Credit in Switzerland, you will be a hands-on expert responsible for credit decisions, liquidity and interest rate risk management, and regulatory reporting. As the business grows, this role has the potential to evolve into a team lead position — but the mandate today is operational ownership, not people management.

At Vontobel, you are building better futures for our clients and society, as well as for yourself. As a family-owned and publicly listed company with over 2,000 professionals based in 28 locations globally and headquartered in Zurich, we’re committed to long-term thinking and sustainability.

Our diverse team values unique perspectives, and we hire individuals determined to deliver in a dynamic and changing world. Even if you don’t meet all the criteria, we encourage you to apply if you’re enthusiastic about the role.

Aufgaben

Credit

  • Own the credit process for private banking clients (Lombard loans,), from policy and origination standards through underwriting, monitoring, and workout.
  • Define and maintain credit risk policies, limits, and collateral frameworks in line with KWG, MaRisk, and Group standards.
  • Act as key decision-maker in the credit committee; represent credit risk in relevant governance bodies.
  • Ensure credit reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Coordinate with Group Credit (Switzerland) to align risk appetite, methodologies, and reporting.

Treasury

  • Manage the bank's liquidity position, funding structure, and intraday/short-term liquidity risk (LCR, NSFR, ALMM reporting).
  • Own interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB) — measurement, hedging strategy, and Board-level reporting.
  • Manage counterparty and correspondent banking relationships relevant to treasury operations.
  • Coordinate funds transfer pricing (FTP) methodology with business lines and Group Treasury.
  • Ensure regulatory treasury reporting (BaFin/Bundesbank) is complete and submitted on time.

Governance & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as primary contact for BaFin/Bundesbank on credit and treasury matters; prepare for and support regulatory examinations and audits.
  • Represent Credit & Treasury in ALCO and other relevant management committees.
  • Serve as the key operational interface with Group Credit/Treasury in Switzerland, ensuring consistent risk standards and methodologies across the group.
  • Prepare credit and treasury papers, analyses, and recommendations for the COO and management body.
  • As the bank grows, contribute to shaping the future structure of the function — including, potentially, building out a small team over time.

Profil / Ihre Qualifikation / Ihre Persönlichkeit:

  • Degree in finance, economics, or a related field; relevant professional qualification (e.g. CFA, CAIA) is a plus.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in credit and/or treasury functions within private banking or a comparable financial institution.
  • Strong technical knowledge of German/EU banking regulation relevant to credit and treasury (KWG, MaRisk, CRR/CRD, LCR/NSFR, IRRBB, ALMM).
  • Track record in Lombard lending for HNWI clients; experience with collateral and credit risk frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of ALM, liquidity management, and interest rate risk hedging.
  • Comfortable owning a function end-to-end and working independently in a lean setup, without relying on a team.
  • Experience working within an international group structure, ideally with exposure to Swiss and German regulatory environments (FINMA/BaFin).
  • Strong stakeholder management skills — comfortable engaging with the COO, ALCO, regulators, and Group functions in Switzerland.
  • Openness to eventually building and leading a small team, without this being the primary motivation for the role.
  • Fluent in German and English.
  • Affinity for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a willingness to embrace AI-enabled tools and ways of working.

Das erwartet Sie

  • Top Düsseldorf location with collaboration spaces.
  • All the latest technology to help you excel and advance.
  • Agile environment in how we think, the way we work and our trust for each other.
  • Opportunities for further training and mentoring to foster your professional development.
  • Flat hierarchy with collaboration at all levels.
  • Collaborative spirit.
